Salmen Class of 87 20th REUNION -this weekend!

Ok, folks, reunion is this week... Pre-Party will be at Barry's Friday night. Then Saturday, June 2, 7pm-11pm, is the BIG night.... We will have food, drink and a possible slideshow at Pinewood Country Club. For the Sunday Family Day, we will congregate at Heritage Park from noon to 5pm ish... Picnic is BYOB and food and share the each other's company...

The time is nearing to celebrate the fact that we have been out of high
school for twenty years! I am sure we all can agree that the past twenty
years have past faster than we would have dreamed they would. A reunion has
been planned to honor this occasion.

In order to make this reunion a success we need everyone's help. A slide
show of past and present pictures has been planned. If anyone has pictures
they would like to include please mail a copy to me (their return cannot be
guaranteed) or post on the yahoo group/ Salmen 1987 website or email to me

We also need a financial commitment. The deposit
has to be paid as we receive payments with the reunion paid in full weeks
before the date. We will not be able to do this without your help. If you

If you are hesitant about attending, please reconsider! High school is a
very difficult time in a teenager's life, but as we age we mature
(hopefully). You may discover that you have much in common with someone
you may have never thought you would in high school. Many found this to be
true at the football homecoming game in October. Please make an effort to
come- you may be the person that makes someone else's reunion experience a
memorable one! And if you don't enjoy yourself you will have an excuse to
avoid any future reunions.

We would appreciate all that you can do to help us make this reunion one to
be talked about for a long time.

Class of 1987 had a fantastic reunion game turn out... Probably had alittle to do with the tailgate party before at Jules Baumann's house. Thanks Jules and to everyone who made an event like this one an absolute success!

(As one may notice I've been a tad bit busy and have not updated the blog like I should have. Sorry...)

Spirit Of Salmen High

Remember those spirit ribbons we used to buy to show our school spirit??? Thank goodness Jamie Dale-Justice had some safely tucked away to share with us.




When Katrina destroyed Salmen High School not only were the current students upset but so were many of its alumni. We remember the dances we held in the cafeteria or the pep rallies in the gym to pump our spirits up before the big game. We would never see these familiar places as they once were. But our memories live on.........

Even though Salmen High does not exist as before, it will rise once again. At this moment Salmen High consists of portable buildings for the current students. But our beloved school is in the process of being rebuilt bigger, better and above all, HIGHER... We look forward to Salmen's rebirth. Go Spartans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here I am reminding everyone once again of Salmen's Homecoming game.

Class of 1987 is invited to attend the reception, court and the game on the night of October 13, 2006. Prior to the scheduled nightly events will be a tailgate party at Jules Baumann's house. Please rsvp or email for more information.


The Homecoming reception will be from 5:30pm -7pm in the Home Ec Room. The Court will begin at 7pm and end at 7:30pm. Finally the game will begin at 7:30 pm - until...

The Coaches ........

How many Friday nights did we gather in the bleachers with our spirit ribbons cheering our boys onto victory? What fun we had talking with our friends in the bleachers, walking up and down on our side of the field hoping for a glimpse of our "crush" on and off the field or making after game plans with our friends for the weekend. Life was so much simpler then or so it seemed.
